Comparing the Investment Numbers.

Let's compare the numbers that you have collected, calculated and charted.

Portfolio Register
Which investment, the Dow or the Nasdaq, is performing the best? Look at the current portfolio values in your booklet for each of the indexes.

Do you have a profit or a loss?
Look at Chart 1 to see if your investment is higher or lower than the Total Deposits line. If it is lower you have a loss. Or, add all of your deposits and subtract the result from your Portfolio total. If the number is positive that means you have a profit!

Are the indexes up overall or down?
Look at Charts 2 and 4 (the index line charts). If the index values are higher than when you started, then the index is up.

What was the high point for the Dow? The Nasdaq?
Look on the same two charts. On what week did each index hit its highest point?

How many weeks were profits and how many were losses?
Look on Charts 3 and 5 (the bar charts). Above the middle line is a profit. Under the middle line is a loss.

Which investment is more volatile? (has bigger gains and losses)
Compare Charts 3 and 5, to see which index had the biggest range between how much its percentage went up and down.

Excel file with calculations and updated charts.
